Herci Marsden, Artistic Director and Choreographer of The State Ballet, is holding open auditions for aspiring young male and female dancers. Dancers that are accepted into the Company will be a part of SBRI's spring performance "Giselle", a timeless love story to be performed on March 22 and 23 at Roberts Hall Auditorium, RI College in Providence.
The State Ballet of Rhode Island is a non-profit, regional, repertory company which was founded in 1960 with a multi-fold purpose of promoting, maintaining, and increasing interest in classical ballet.
Not only is The State Ballet, Rhode Island's first established classical ballet company in residence, but it has striven to bring ballet to all Rhode Island communications. The State Ballet also has a firm dedication to dance education and the preparation of aspiring dancers.
REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPANY DANCERS:
You must have studied dance for at least six years; for females, three years of pointe, and be at least thirteen years old.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPRENTICE PROGRAM:
You must have studied dance a minimum of four years, pointe for two years (female), and be at least eleven years of age.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PRE-APPRENTICE PROGRAM:
You must have studied dance a minimum of three years and be at least nine years of age.

AUDITION ATTIRE
Girls wear ballet leotard with pink tights. Pointe shoes are required if studied pointe. Boys wear t-shirt, tights and white ballet shoes.
