Join The State Ballet of Rhode Island, the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, and thousands of Rhode Islanders at ‘Flames of Hope a Celebration of Life Weekend’ on Saturday, September 30, 2023. This event will feature the State Ballet of Rhode Island and allow everyone to attend in a safe and welcoming environment.

Flames of Hope
Since 2009, SBRI has been honored to dance under the stars as part of ‘Illuminations of Life’, the pinnacle of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation’s Flames of Hope weekend. The event will capture your heart and restore your faith in humanity.
Since its inception in 2006, FLAMES OF HOPE: A CELEBRATION OF LIFE™ has grown into the largest breast cancer awareness event in the Northeast. The event, held annually, normlly draws more than 100,000 visitors to Downtown Providence, but will change venues this year to accomdate the safety of all involved.

SBRI dancers and the company’s resident choreographer, Shana Fox Marceau, are delighted to share their passion for ballet and for their community as they portray what it really means to have Faith, Courage, Hope, Determination, and Strength in life’s difficult situations.

The Illuminations of Life Ceremony and Torch Procession is a moving experience that promotes awareness, encourages support for people touched by breast cancer and fosters a sense of paying it forward.
The proceeds from the Illuminations of Life ceremony are used to help with the operating costs of the Hope Bus—The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s 38 foot long RV that provides education and support to cancer patients, survivors and people in our community.
